TCS Sydney mini Marathon

SATURday AUGUST 29, 2026
TCS sydney mini marathon Soon

A new chapter for the TCS Sydney Mini Marathon

We’ve got big news! With over 50,000 runners across our 3 events and growing, we’re evolving into a two-day marathon festival to provide the best possible race experience.

Now, we know the Harbour Bridge has been a highlight, but with our exciting growth and the need to move to Saturday racing, closing it two days in a row just isn’t possible. While we can’t deliver the bridge, we’ve got something just as iconic – for the first time since our Abbott World Marathon candidacy began, you’ll cross the finish line at the steps of the Sydney Opera House!

The new TCS Sydney Mini Marathon gives you:

  • A stunning brand new CBD course that soaks up Sydney’s beauty

  • A fast, fun, and accessible 5km course, perfect for first-timers, families, and kids.

  • Crossing the same finish line as the world’s best and sharing the stage with marathon legends such as Eliud Kipchoge.

  • More time to soak up the festival atmosphere, so make a weekend of it and enjoy the city.

Whether you’re chasing a PB or soaking in the sights, this is your chance to run Sydney like never before. Be part of history. Be part of Australia's biggest running festival.

Race Bib Explanation

Your race bib shows your Wave Start, Chute Entry and your Bib Number.

In the illustration, this participant's bib indicates they will be Wave A ("A" indicating Wave A), and Chute Entry A (also indicated by letter "A"). Your bib number will be allocated to you at the point of bib collection at the TCS Sydney Marathon Running Show (which you can share with friends and family for tracking via the official TCS Sydney Marathon event app).

Where do I need to wear my bib on race day?

In order to ensure an accurate time, please make sure that your race number is:

  • Clearly visible on the front of your torso at all times.

  • Unaltered and unmodified (do not fold, wrinkle, or iron).

  • Pinned in all four corners (do not pierce the timing chip).

  • Not covered by a jacket, running belt, water bottle, or any other item.

Walk-Off and Recovery Village

Once Mini Marathon  participants have finished, they will keep moving forward through a controlled exit route called the Walk-Off. Please avoid stopping and taking a photo immediately after the finish line as this causes crowd congestion

This is a 100-metre walk (approximately) after the finish line towards the kids pickup zone, where children will be able to meet family, friends and other runners after their race.

The walk continues to the recovery village where there will be the public catering and family zone, face painting, sausage sizzle and much more!

Our biggest tip for all participants is to keep moving forwards after the finish line.  Keeping your body moving helps blow flow, and is the best recovery move participants can make after they cross the finish line.
