Road closures (Sunday)
4am to 4:30pm: Macquarie St closed from the Opera House to Hyde Park, including closures of College St, St Mary’s Rd, Art Gallery Rd and Mrs Macquarie Rd. No access to or from Macquarie St via Cahill Expressway.
4am to 11am: Hickson Rd, Sussex St, Barangaroo Ave, Barton St, Lime St, Shelley St, Erskine St, Napoleon St, Wheat Rd.
4am to 11:30am: Hickson Rd, Windmill St, Pottinger St, Watson Rd, sections of Argyle St and Kent St, George St and Essex St.
4am to 12pm: roads between George St and Macquarie St in the city centre and Circular Quay including sections of Bridge St, Grosvenor St, Pitt St, Young St[JH1] , Phillip St, Bent St, Hunter St, Elizabeth St, Castlereagh St, and surrounding local streets. King St closed between York St and Elizabeth St from 4am to 11:30am.
5am to 3:30pm: Park St and William St closed between Elizabeth St and Crown St.
Motion Festival, the official race week live site, will take over Customs House at Circular Quay from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August. Road closures will be in place on sections of Loftus St, Loftus Lane, Young St and Alfred St from 5am Sat 29 Aug until 1am Mon 31 Aug. No road closures will be in place on Thursday 27 or Friday 28 August.
Cycleway closures (Sunday)
Sydney CBD
From 4am to 11am: Sussex St between Napoleon St and Exchange Pl overpass.
From 4am to 11:30am: Castlereagh St between King St and Market St, Hickson Rd between Towns Place and Barton St, King St between Sussex St and Phillip St, and Western Distributor Shared Path between Pyrmont Bridge and King St.
From 4am to 12pm: Pitt St Between King St and Alfred St.
From 4am to 4pm: College St between Oxford St and Park St, Liverpool St between Elizabeth St and College St, Oxford St between College St and Flinders St and William St between Yurong St and College St. From 4am to 4pm: College St between Park St and Prince Albert Rd.
From 5am to 3:30pm: Park St between College St and Elizabeth St, and William St between Yurong St and College St Eastbound.
Managed local access
Managed EXIT permitted from most properties until 5:30am in the CBD, The Rocks and Circular Quay. No entry from 4am.
Parking restrictions (Sunday)
Special event clearways will be in effect from 12.01am to 10am on multiple roads throughout the city including, Hickson Rd, Pottinger St, Watsons Rd, Upper Fort St, Argyle St, Dalgety Rd, Barangaroo Ave, Napoleon St, Sussex St, Erskine St, Shelley St, Lime St, Bridge St, Pitt St, Young St, Loftus St, Phillip St, Elizabeth St, Castlereagh St, King St, Macquarie St, O’Connell St, Bligh St, Gresham St, Bent St, Hunter St, St James Rd, St Marys Rd, William St, College St, Liverpool St Hospital Rd, Art Gallery Rd and Mrs Macquaries Rd. Some clearways will be in effect from 5am to 3pm on Bathurst St, Castlereagh St and Riley St, and from 5am to 12 midday [JH2] on Clarence St, Castlereagh St, York St and Campbell St.
Local access:
Managed EXIT will be permitted for vehicles from most properties until 5.30am in Sydney CBD, The Rocks, and Circular Quay. No entry permitted from 4am.
Before 11am motorists from the city travelling north can only access the Harbour Tunnel northbound via the Cross City Tunnel eastbound, then exiting at Rushcutters Bay to return westbound via the Cross City Tunnel and join the Eastern Distributor northbound at Woolloomooloo.
If you must drive on event day, allow plenty of extra travel time and follow NSW Police and Traffic Controller directions.
Saturday road closures (TCS Mini Marathon)
Roads in the Sydney CBD will close for the Mini Marathon event between 2am and 10am.
2am – 10am: Macquarie St between Bridge St and Bent St
4am – 10am: Macquarie St between Bridge St and the Opera House roundabout, and Albert St, roads in the Royal Botanic Garden & The Domain including Art Gallery Rd and Mrs Macquaries Rd.
5am – 10am: Macquarie St between Bent St and College St, including Cahill Expressway on and off ramps to Macquarie St, St James Rd to Elizabeth St, College St to Park St, Hunter St and Phillip St.
6.30am – 9.30am: St Mary’s Rd, Hospital Rd and Shakespeare Place/Bent Street.
Cycleway closures from 5am to 10am:
College Street between Park Street and Prince Albert Road (western side)
Macquarie St between St James Rd and King St (western side)

Special Event Clearways will also be in effect on O’Connell St and Bligh St from 5am Saturday 29 August until 1am Monday 31 August.
