Running with Purpose: How Tech4HOPE Is Powering Stronger Communities

Running teaches you that purpose is powerful. Every runner on the start line has a reason to keep moving. A story, a goal, a community they care about. That same spirit sits at the heart of Tech4HOPE, Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) pro bono program supporting not‑for‑profits across Australia and New Zealand.
Just as training for a marathon requires resilience and support, many not‑for‑profits face long, uphill battles of their own. They run on passion and commitment, yet are often held back by outdated technology, disconnected systems, and limited resources. Websites that need refreshing, reports that take hours, manual processes that slow down impact - it all adds up. And for organisations trying to change lives, every minute matters.
That’s why TCS created Tech4HOPE.
Tech4HOPE gives not‑for‑profits access to the kind of digital capability that usually feels out of reach or “maybe one day”:
website builds
app development for service delivery or engagement
cyber security support
sustainability and operational optimisation
compliance reporting & data analytics for healthcare
technology and digital strategy support
All delivered at zero cost.
It’s the same belief that drives our partnership with TCS - community first, purpose always, and the conviction that when we lift others, we all move forward.
Across ANZ, TCS’ Tech4HOPE projects have already helped community organisations take meaningful steps toward greater impact. They have supported a remote community program to build a new website that brings people together through sustainable food production, making their work more accessible and scalable. They have designed digital tools that empower individuals to track their environmental footprint and inspire more sustainable choices. They have worked on culturally important initiatives that help connect and empower Indigenous runners, and they have developed a healthy ageing game that encourages older Australians to stay active and engaged through simple daily activities.
Different missions. Different communities. But one shared goal: stronger, healthier, more connected lives.
This is where the link to running is so clear. Runners know the power of progress - one step, one kilometre, one decision at a time. Tech4HOPE channels that same energy, helping purpose driven organisations overcome barriers and keep moving toward the impact they want to create.
With applications closing on 22 March, now is the moment to champion the innovators and community leaders who lift others. Many of them are everyday Australians, just like the thousands who take on our marathon each year - people driven by the belief that we can leave the world better than we found it.
We encourage every runner, supporter, and partner to reflect on the question: What cause fuels your forward motion?
If you know a charity that works tirelessly for its community but needs digital support to go further, nominate them today.
The first step in any marathon is the decision to start. Tech4HOPE is here to help them take the next one.
Apply or nominate before 22 March.
